Echoes of sanctions: money from Russian tourists is “not accepted” in Turkey

In Turkey, Russian tourists faced a serious problem – citizens of the aggressor country cannot pay for accommodation in hotels and other services due to sanctions.

As reported by The Moscow Times , this happened after the restriction of payments related to Russia. RosZMI, with reference to a source in one of the private banks in Ankara, notes that there are problems with transferring money for various types of services.

“Payment does not go through our systems due to known sanctions, tourists cannot pay for a purchase or service,” a source from one of the financial institutions of the Turkish capital told “RIA-Novosti”.

The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Turkey Oleksiy Yerkhov admitted that the situation surrounding payment transfers between the two countries remains tense.

“At the beginning of March, the Aydınık publication reported that Turkish hotels cannot receive payment from Russia for the accommodation of Russian guests. Money transfers either arrive too late or are sent back, said Serdar Uskyuplu, deputy head of the Vatan party,” the report said.

Russian tourists in Turkey

As UNIAN reported, tourists from the Russian Federation stole 35 kilograms of food from the buffet table during their vacation in a Turkish hotel , citing the fact that they “need to eat on the train.” It happened in one of the hotels in Antalya – tourists wanted to take the stolen food out of the hotel, but the employees prevented it.

A video appeared on social networks, showing how hotel employees dump huge bags of food on the bed – apples, candies, dried fruits, dozens of cans of carbonated drinks, a huge bag of sauces. The Russians also collected a huge amount of bags of sugar and tea. They even took the oil out of the restaurant, wrapping it in foil.

In addition to food, Russian tourists tried to steal a huge package of shampoos and other cosmetics from the hotel.
