In addition, they recommended a strict approach to reviewing existing short-term visas already issued to citizens of the Russian Federation.

The European Commission has issued recommendations to member states on issuing Schengen visas to Russian citizens .
This was reported on the EC website .
In particular, they are advised not to issue multiple-entry visas to Russians, because, given the economic instability, sanctions and political events in the Russian Federation, its citizens may not meet the conditions for entering the EU in the long term.VIDEO OF THE DAYplay video
It is noted that a member state can also request advice on a threat to public order, internal security or international relations before another country from the EU issues visas to Russians. In this case, the citizens of the aggressor country will not have access to the entire Schengen area, and the visa will be limited to the territory of the state that issued it.
EU member states have been advised to take a strict approach to reviewing existing short-stay visas already issued to Russian citizens and cancel them if the holder of the document is now considered a security risk.
At the same time, the EU will remain open to visa applicants traveling for essential purposes, in particular family members of EU citizens, journalists, dissidents and members of civil society.
Recall that a little earlier the Council of the European Union approved the complete termination of the visa facilitation agreement with the Russian Federation.
