Just to focus on one small aspect, Ukrainian cuisine rightly gets some extensive coverage. IMHO, Ukrainian cuisine is amongst the finest in Europe.
Before ruZZia descended into total savagery, it was possible to enjoy fine dining in Moscow. This was because of the availability of Ukrainian, Georgian and Armenian restaurants.
They were able to command premium prices because the quality was so far ahead of anything else on offer.
I well remember in the early putler years being served by beautiful Ukrainian girls in national dress, not far from Tverskaya street.
That will never happen again of course.
In Odesa, I enjoyed world class cuisine in the Arcadia area and God willing, will again soon.
