The Dutch Defense Minister emphasized that this step is necessary to deter Russia.
Dutch F-35 fighter jets will patrol NATO airspace in Poland from September 2025. Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced this on his X social media page .

“It is important for the security of the Netherlands to protect NATO’s eastern flank,” he wrote.
Brekelmans stressed that this step is necessary to deter Russia and protect Ukraine’s supply lines. He also noted that Norway will also deploy its fighter jets to Poland.
Recall that the Norwegian F-35 fighters are different from the others . The Royal Norwegian Air Force’s F-35A has a strange protrusion on the top of the aircraft between the vertical stabilizers. This “hump” is necessary to help F-35A pilots cope with the harsh climatic conditions of Norway.
