50.4 percent of voters supported the incumbent president, while 49.6 upheld Rafał Trzaskowski, the candidate from Platforma Obywatelska party.

Incumbent president of Poland Andrzej Duda has won in the second leg of presidential election. He barely won in the faceoff with the other candidate who lost by less than one percent of votes. TVN24 reported that referring to the exit poll.

50.4 percent of voters supported the incumbent president, while 49.6 upheld Rafał Trzaskowski, the candidate from Platforma Obywatelska party.

The exit poll data still lies within statistical error of two percent, so the name of the actual winner is still unknown. The voters’ turnout made 68.9 percent, which makes an absolute record in the history of independent Poland. 

“You saw this amazing turnout, that’s almost 70 percent. The victory in election under such a turnout is unbelievable news. I’m very touched. Thanks to all my compatriots from the bottom of my heart”, Duda said.

Polish Central Election Committee is supposed to release the eventual results of the voting within the next few days. 

The second leg of presidential elections in Poland took place on July 12.
