On Monday, December 26, North Korean drones crossed the demarcation line with South Korea, causing the latter to deploy fighter jets, helicopters and other means to shoot down the drones.

According to Yonhap News Agency  , citing the South Korean Chiefs of Staff, the military found several “unidentified objects”, presumably unmanned aerial vehicles, in the border areas of Gyeonggi Province.

The drones crossed the military demarcation line dividing the two Koreas and were spotted in the Gimpo, Ganghwa and Paju areas, causing civilian flights to be temporarily suspended.

It is reported that the South Korean military also deployed a KA-1 light attack aircraft, but for an unknown reason it crashed about 140 km east of Seoul. Both pilots ejected.

At the same time, all civilian flights were canceled at Incheon and Gimpo airports without giving official reasons.

Missile launches by North Korea

On November 2, 2022, the  DPRK launched a missile that crossed the maritime border with South Korea. Seoul fired three air-to-ground missiles in response.

On October 12, North Korea  conducted another missile test by launching two long-range strategic cruise missiles.

On November 19, Japan announced that North Korea’s new intercontinental ballistic missile  could reach US soil .

On December 18, North Korea tested two ballistic missiles with a potential range to hit Japan. The launches came two days after North Korea said it had conducted key tests needed to build a more mobile and powerful intercontinental ballistic missile designed to strike the US mainland.

  1. South Korea and Ukraine need to have a get together to enable Ukraine getting weapons from them and Ukraine can help them with drone defense.
