These Dagger carrier aircraft use specific fuel from certain types of oil.

On the night of August 14, Ukraine struck Russian airfields in the Russian Federation. Among the targets were the air bases near Voronezh, Borysoglebsk and the ” Savasleyka ” base, which is 650 km from the border. As a result of the attack, important objects could be affected.
As Defense Express reports , it is from the “Savasleika” airfield that the carriers of the “Daggers” – MiG-31K aircraft – take off most often. There was a well-founded hope that these flights will now be made more difficult.
At the “Savasleyka” air base, only ZU-23-2 type anti-aircraft guns and machine guns are responsible for all anti-aircraft defense. Works of more powerful tools – not recorded.
At the same time, the results of the blows are more powerful. The NASA satellite service shows a powerful fire in the area of unloading and storage of fuel and lubricant materials.
The MiG-31 uses a rather specific fuel – T-6 kerosene. This is a special heavy heat-stable fuel, which is designed for supersonic flights at high altitude, in which kerosene heats up to 100-150 degrees. Formally, the MiG-31 is allowed to use other fuels, for example, the most common RT kerosene, but with corresponding restrictions on flight modes. For example, without supersonic high-altitude flights, and without them, the launch of the X-47 “Dagger” is impossible.
T-6 kerosene in the Russian Federation is used only in the MiG-31 and is a unique type of fuel specifically for it. Previously, it was also used by the MiG-25, but this machine has long been decommissioned. Another such type of fuel is T-8B, which is used in the Tu-160. These fuels are produced from certain types of oil and not at every refinery.
“That is, even the destruction of fuel reserves, as well as parts of the fuel infrastructure of the airfield, is already quite a significant result. And now the question of basing the MiG-31K at this air base is in question. This, of course, does not mean that the enemy will not be able to move the aircraft to another airfield, but in in any case, this is about additional complications for the enemy,” the newspaper writes.
“Savasleyka” is an airfield on which not only the MiG-31K, but also the MiG-31BM, which are interceptors, are based.
The NASA service records fires, not explosions. It will not record aircraft damage. Especially if we are talking about the fact that Ukrainian drones were equipped with combat units with aerial detonation. They are ideal for destroying aircraft in open areas. MiG-31s are still stored in the Russian Federation, there were no shelters for them. As of June 30, 2024, MiG-31Ks were protected only by tires.
