Drones attacked Tambov gunpowder plant: Russians report explosions (video)

Ukrainian drones attacked the Tambov gunpowder plant in the Russian Federation today , explosions were heard. This is reported by local Telegram channels.

According to ASTRA , local residents report that UAVs are attacking the Tambov gunpowder plant in Kotovsk. It is noted that the plant produces explosives.

A fire has been reported at one of the ammunition depots. It is said that this is not the first attack on this plant.

Acting Governor of the Tambov Region Yevgeny Pervyshev wrote that on the night of June 10-11, a massive attack by Ukrainian UAVs on Kotovsk was repelled. “As a result of the fall of one of the downed UAVs, a fire broke out, which was extinguished by fire departments, there were no casualties,” he assures.

Andriy Kovalenko , a Defense Forces officer and head of the National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation, called this enterprise “a very bold target.”

“This is not the first time the Tambov gunpowder plant in the Russian Federation has been attacked. Now it is putting its work on pause,” he stressed.

Kovalenko notes that this plant is one of the key facilities of the Russian military-industrial complex, which is involved in the war against Ukraine. “It produces gunpowder used for various types of small arms, artillery and rocket systems. Also – colloxylin, which is used in the creation of explosives and other specialized products.

“The enterprise is one of the main suppliers of explosives for the Russian army. With the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, production at the plant has increased significantly,” he wrote.

Strikes on the Tambov Gunpowder Plant – details

As UNIAN reported, in January 2025, Ukraine attacked the Tambov gunpowder plant of the Russian Federation.

The enterprise is one of the main suppliers of explosives to the Russian army. With the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, production at the plant increased significantly.

Also in July 2024, it was reported that as a result of an operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on the morning of July 4, the Tambov Gunpowder Plant in the city of Kotovsk, Tambov Region of the Russian Federation, was hit.

Then the attack was carried out using kamikaze drones, one of which successfully hit an enemy military-industrial complex facility.
