Drones attacked Slavyansk-on-Kuban oil refinery, fire broke out

01/26/2026

Russia complained about a Ukrainian attack on the Krasnodar Territory on the night of January 26. Explosions were heard in the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, after which local residents observed a glow from the fire.

Local authorities acknowledged the attack and reported that “debris” fell on the territory of two enterprises at once, one of which is presumably the local Slavyansk-Eko refinery. The attack was also reported by the Telegram channel Exilenova+.

What is known

Reports of the first explosions in Slavyansk-on-Kuban began appearing at around 1 a.m. (Kyiv time). Around the same time, local residents wrote online that the target of the attack was the Slavyansk refinery.

The attack was acknowledged by the regional operational headquarters closer to 4 a.m. By that time, footage from the city was already circulating online, capturing not only the Russian air defense’s unsuccessful attempts to shoot down drones flying towards their targets, but also the glow from the incoming flights.

So the Krasnodar Territory Operational Headquarters was forced to report that the UAVs were flying to the Kuban for a reason.

“Fragments of a UAV fell on the territory of two enterprises in Slavyansk-na-Kuban, one person was injured. She was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening injury. There were also fires on the territory of the enterprises, which are being extinguished by specialists from the relevant services,” local authorities said.

It is currently unknown which other enterprise “destroyed” the UAVs flying towards it that night . As for the oil refinery, according to local residents, “one of the barrels at the refinery is on fire,” writes Exilenova+.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry did not report anything about the consequences of the flights. Instead, they began to intimidate the Russians by holding them responsible for publishing videos from the scene, as well as by saying that the debris of the drones that fell could be not only explosive, but also “infected.”

The Slavyansk Oil Refinery (also known as Slavyansk Eco) is a Russian oil refining enterprise located on the southern outskirts of Slavyansk-on-Kuban. As of 2021, the total primary oil refining capacity of this enterprise was 5.2 million tons per year.

The Slavyansk refinery has already been a target for Ukrainian UAVs several times. So, they flew over it, in particular, on March 17, May 19, 2024, as well as in February, August, November and December 2025. And they flew successfully. For example, after the May strike in 2024, the plant stopped working.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that the Defense Forces struck an oil depot in the Penza region of Russia, a radar station, and other enemy facilities. The attack was confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which also shared the information available at that time about the consequences of the strikes.
