Explosions have erupted on the territory of the Metafrax Chemicals enterprise in the Perm region. According to preliminary data, the territory of the facility was attacked by kamikaze drones.
The explosion at the enterprise occurred on the evening of September 13. This was reported by the Dnipro Osint Telegram channel.
Details of the explosion
According to investigators, the explosion occurred directly on the territory of the Metafrax Chemicals enterprise. The facility is located in the city of Gubakha, Perm Territory, Russia.
In addition, a video was posted online confirming that the explosion occurred on the territory of the enterprise. The footage also shows minor damage to one of the workshops.
The occupiers confirmed the attack.
On the evening of September 13, Perm Krai Governor Dmitry Makhonin complained that a drone had flown into one of the industrial enterprises in Gubas. At the same time, the official stated that the enterprise was operating normally.
Residents of the Perm region were urged to refrain from posting photos and videos of the aftermath of the UAV attack on social media. Local authorities also complained that this was the first attack by kamikaze drones on the Perm region . It is known that 28 employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and 7 units of special transport worked at the scene of the attack.
What does Metafrax Chemicals do?
Joint-Stock Company “Metafrax Chemicals” is a chemical industry enterprise that is one of the largest producers and exporters of methanol and its derivatives in Russia and Europe.
The company produces a wide range of chemicals used in various industries, including construction, pharmaceuticals, plastics, paints, resins and adhesives. Main products: methanol, formalin, urea formaldehyde concentrate pentaerythritol, urotropine, polyamide, sodium formate.
In 2024, the company’s net profit decreased significantly, amounting to 271.9 million rubles, which is 8 times less than in 2023. The share of exports in the total volume of sales of finished products in 2024 was 38.7%. However, export revenue increased by 12.3% to 12.5 billion rubles.
In May 2025, the United Kingdom added Metafrax Chemicals to its sanctions list because the company operates in the strategically important defense sector for Russia. There is information that some components produced by the company can be used in military explosives.
As OBOZ.UA reported, the Unmanned Systems Forces, together with other components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, continue to strike at the enemy’s oil industry infrastructure. During the month, almost three dozen refineries and other facilities related to the energy sector were attacked on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Why would mafia land do that? I thought they always shot down every drone.
They always warn people not to post photos and videos, but we still get to see them with every attack. 😂
The governer of the Leningrad region was claiming drone debris caused the destruction on the oil refinery last night. I’m not sure what causes this debris, because I never hear any air defences going off.
I’m glad they keep on mentioning drone debris as causing this and that damage. A totally overused lie is as useful as wet toilet paper.
