On the night of Monday, March 10, drones attacked the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery (NPR ) in the Samara region of the Russian Federation. A fire was recorded at the enterprise.

This is how local media reported the event. The Russians said that at approximately 2 a.m., several powerful explosions were heard over the city of Novokuybyshevsk.

“About 30 minutes ago, a sound characteristic of a UAV was heard in the sky above the city. A powerful explosion was heard from the local refinery. Eyewitnesses saw bright flashes in the sky. A total of four loud sounds were heard,” Russian Telegram channels wrote.

Previously, propagandists decided that at least “one of the Ukrainian UAVs” was “shot down by Russian air defenses on its approach to the enterprise.” However, they admitted that no official information about the events in the Samara region had been received.

Only this morning did the local Ministry of Emergencies confirm that “a warehouse with an area of 1,500 sq m is on fire” in Novokuybyshevsk, noting that there were no casualties.

At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the shooting down of “nine Ukrainian UAVs” overnight, of which three drones were allegedly destroyed over the Samara region, two each over the Voronezh and Oryol regions, and one each over the Belgorod and Kursk regions of the Russian Federation.

Novokuibyshevsk Refinery is the most powerful oil refining enterprise among the plants of the Samara group of PJSC Rosneft. The design oil refining capacity is over 8.8 million tons per year.

This oil refinery is one of the main producers of high-quality RT jet fuel, intended for turbojet subsonic and some supersonic aircraft (such as the Su-27, Tu-22M3, etc.). Last March, the enterprise was attacked twice by drones.

As OBOZ.UA reported, on the morning of March 9, a drone attacked an oil depot in Cheboksary (the capital of the Russian Chuvashia region). This was the first time a Ukrainian UAV had reached this region of the Russian Federation.
