On the night of Thursday, December 11, the Novgorod region of the Russian Federation was restless. Explosions were heard in Veliky Novgorod, and the chemical plant of PJSC “Acron” was under attack by UAVs.
Enemy air defenses tried to engage the targets, but the drones still hit their targets. A fire broke out at the enterprise, which can be seen in footage posted online by local residents.
The enterprise attacked by drones is one of the largest chemical producers in Russia. Some of Akron’s products and raw materials have a dual purpose, in particular, they are used as a key component in the production of explosives.
Meanwhile, the governor of the Novgorod region, Alexander Dronov, said that an air defense system is operating in the region.
“All operational services are on high alert. Please remain calm. I am personally monitoring the situation,” he wrote.
