The home of Russian opposition leader Ilya Ponomarev in the Kyiv region was damaged after a drone attack overnight . According to media reports , citing sources, the politician and his wife received “numerous injuries”, but their lives are not in danger.

It is known that the UAV exploded five meters from the front door. The house was destroyed. In the photographs published online, scratches and numerous bruises are visible on Ponomarev’s face and chest.

Earlier, on July 31, three drones had already flown into Ilya Ponomarev’s land. However, they were shot down by air defense and fell 50-100 meters from the house, causing only minor damage.

Later, Ponomarev himself commented on the incident, calling it his “second birthday.” He added that it was the fifth assassination attempt on him – the most unconventional and more successful than the previous ones.

Russian opposition figure and former member of the A Just Russia faction in the Russian State Duma Ilya Ponomarev moved to Ukraine shortly after Russia annexed Crimea. In 2019, he received Ukrainian citizenship. Several criminal cases have been opened against Ponomarev in Russia.

Night attack in Ukraine – what is known

On the night of August 1, the enemy struck Ukraine with Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Voronezh region and Crimea, as well as with Shahed-type strike UAVs in the directions of Cape Chauda – Crimea, Kursk – Russia.

“Radiotechnical troops detected and escorted 7 “shahids”. All were shot down by air defense in the Kyiv, Poltava, Kherson and Dnepropetrovsk regions,” the Air Force noted.

Before that, on the night of July 31, Russian occupiers  carried out a massive attack using drones . In total, the enemy launched 89 attack drones and one Kh-59 guided air missile. All targets were destroyed.
