Donbas terrorists hand over nine people to Ukraine, – ombudsman

The captured serviceman of Ukraine’s Armed Forces Viktor Shaidov is among them

Militants of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic have handed over nine people to Ukraine as part of today’s exchange near Horlivka and Mayorsk checkpoint. Ukraine’s Ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova announced this on her Telegram page and posted the photo of the released Ukrainians.

Nine citizens of Ukraine will be returned from the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region. In particular,  Viktor Shaidov is among them. He is a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was imprisoned and illegally held in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region since 2019,” Denisova noted.

The information resources of Donbas militants report that Donetsk has handed over nine persons to Kyiv, and has received 10 people in return.

It is noted that 11 people were initially listed, but one person refused to participate in the exchange.

As we reported earlier, given the lockdown in Ukraine, upon their return, the released Ukrainians will be sent for mandatory observation.

Mutual release of detained persons takes place in an “all for all” format

  1. Someone needs to get their facts right. According to Novoe Vremya 19 Ukrainians have been released, and why all the secrecy about this exchange? Who have Russia demanded be returned this time? After the last fiasco when Zelensky released the MH17 witness, I don’t trust this Putin appeaser one bit.
