The US President made personnel changes after meeting with a conspiracy theorist.
US President Donald Trump has fired National Security Agency Director Timothy Hogg, the Financial Times reports .
According to the publication, Hoag was removed from his post a few hours after Trump fired a number of high-ranking National Security Council employees.
Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner condemned the firing of Timothy Hogg, who also heads U.S. Cyber Command, saying the ousted agency chief “served honorably” in the position for more than 30 years.
It is also stated that Hoag’s deputy, Wendy Noble, has also been fired. She has been transferred to another position in the Pentagon.
As journalists noted, the personnel reshuffle took place after Trump met with conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, who presented him with a report on some employees.
According to sources, the US president decided to dismiss at least three employees of the agency. Brian Walsh, who was responsible for intelligence issues, and Thomas Bowdry, the director of legislative affairs, as well as David Feith, the director of technology and national security, were removed.
“We let go of people we don’t like or those we think can’t do the job,” Trump told reporters.
He also denied information that he fired the officials at the insistence of Loomer, noting that he was only listening to the recommendations of the conspiratorial expert.
