Europe’s concerns about the “separate” treaty between Moscow and Washington seem to be not groundless. Russia and the United States have resumed dialogue on the work of diplomatic missions. This is reported by the Russian opposition project “Important Stories” .

Thus, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Ryabkov met with US Ambassador to Russia Lynne Tracy, they discussed the work of diplomatic missions. Although there are no other details about this meeting, it was the first contact in a long time between Russian and American diplomats devoted to the work of diplomatic missions, the publication notes. 

Americanist Alexandra Filippenko notes that the meeting took place at a higher representative level than the current state of Russian-American diplomatic relations suggests.

The publication adds that in recent years, both the Russian embassy in the United States and the American embassy in Russia have been operating in truncated formats. At the same time, the United States regularly refused to issue visas to Russian diplomats, in particular for participation in UN meetings in New York, and also prohibited them from traveling beyond the 25-mile zone around the UN headquarters. 

In addition, Russian media reported today that a business jet used by Trump’s special representative to the Middle East, Stephen Witkoff, has arrived in Moscow. It is noted that Trump himself has used this plane several times in the past.

Russian authorities have neither officially confirmed nor denied the visit of such a significant American official, but Rosaviatsia confirmed that the plane itself did indeed land in Moscow.
