Everyone is asking how Trump could agreed to a diesel deal with Putin. But, hang on, why has Putin agreed to it, given Russia’s own fuel shortages?

Russia actually banned diesel exports in the weeks leading up to the deal as a result of Ukraine’s intensified campaign against its refineries. So why agree to supply its adversary the United States now?

In this video, I look at the deal from Putin’s perspective and examine what he stands to gain from exporting fuel Russia itself is in desperate need of for the war in Ukraine as well as on the home front.
