Denmark has taken on Russia’s shadow fleet: how they will hit Moscow

It is noted that Copenhagen’s decision could be quite painful.

Denmark is considering the possibility of restricting the passage of old tankers carrying Russian oil through the Baltic Sea. Copenhagen believes that this step could lead to confrontation with Moscow.

Reuters writes that Russia sends about a third of its seaborne oil exports, or 1.5% of global supplies, through the Danish straits, the gateway to the Baltic Sea, so any attempt to cut off supplies would lead to higher oil prices and hit the Kremlin’s finances .

“Denmark has assembled a group of allied countries to assess measures against the so-called shadow fleet, consisting of obsolete ships carrying Russian oil,” said the country’s Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen.

Russian Shadow Fleet – latest news

In March, it was reported that due to the risk associated with Western restrictions,  Indian oil refiners decided to no longer accept tankers owned by Russia’s Sovcomflot. True, they later abandoned this decision and  began accepting Russian oil again .

Bloomberg also revealed  Russia’s secret scheme to transport its oil.  Thus, the Russian tanker Primorye, which is under US sanctions, secretly transferred oil to another ship.

  1. The orcs like to blockade the Azov sea, so just return the favour and block every ship coming out of russia. Two can break international laws, not just mafia land.

    • I hope they forget about the prices. Moskovia continues to drill…and then store…because nobody civilized wants their nazi oil. If there’s a price increase I would bet it’s temporary. Cut the nazi bloodline and remind them how irrelevant they are.

  2. To cut Russia’s tanker lifeline means to reduce the regime’s funds available for war. Excellent!

““A situation where Russian tankers that are visible from the coast of Estonia and Finland are evading sanctions and processing oil products with disregard for rules, demands quick action from us,” Estonia’s Foreign Minister Margus Tsakhna commented, in reference to the EU’s upcoming 14th sanctions package.”
“The Finnish presidency of the CBSS marked a step in the direction of developing the Council into a forum to coordinate such security efforts more closely.
Last year’s meeting in Finland was the first CBSS summit, and after Sweden’s accession to NATO, all its members are part of the Western security alliance.”
    ✊🙂👍
