Dawn on Langeron and a British gun: Boris Johnson visited Odessa for the first time

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrived in Odessa for the first time today, September 13.

The British philanthropist and businessman Lord Michael Ashcroft arrived with him on a visit, reports a Dumskaya correspondent.

Together with the Odessans, Johnson greeted the dawn on Langeron to the sounds of the piano.

Our city’s guests also took photos against the backdrop of the English Club and the British cannon, a trophy from the 19th century Crimean War, installed on Birzhevaya Square.

“We are proud to have provided the Ukrainians with weapons better than this,” Johnson said.

Let us recall that former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has visited Ukraine several times since the start of the full-scale invasion, but this is his first time in Odessa. Johnson actively supports the Ukrainians – he advocated for military and financial aid, increased sanctions pressure on Russia and regularly expresses solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

Michael Anthony Ashcroft, Baron and Lord, is also a very interesting politician. He is one of the financiers of the Conservative Party, former deputy chairman. A native of Belize, he is a sociologist, a talented publicist. And a billionaire – with villas and yachts. He applied for a position in David Cameron’s cabinet, and when he got nothing, he published a book criticizing the latter.

He is one of the long-standing supporters of Ukraine, who actively supports initiatives aimed at helping our country. He also participated in the largest forum on security in the Black Sea region – Black Sea Security Forum, which was held in Odessa.

In 2023, Dumskaya recorded a long interview with Lord Ashcroft, which can be viewed here.
