The relevant agreements have already been signed.

The Ukrainian state-owned company Ukroboronservis and the Czech ammunition manufacturer Sellier & Bellot are planning to build a plant in Ukraine to produce assault rifles. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal following government meetings in Prague.

“Among other deals in the defense industry, a new ammunition plant will be built in Ukraine. The agreement was signed between Sellier & Bellot and Ukroboronservis. This is very important for providing the army now,” Reuters quotes Shmyhal as saying .

It is noted that the Czech company Colt CZ Group, which acquired Sellier & Bellot this year, said it would provide equipment for the production of small-caliber ammunition as part of the project.

Another division of Colt CZ, Ceska Zbrojovka, also signed a technology transfer agreement for the production of CZ BREN 2 rifles in Ukraine.

Shmyhal said Ukraine had received the first 50,000 rounds of ammunition under a Czech initiative launched earlier this year. Around half a million artillery shells are expected to be delivered to Ukraine this year under the Czech program to purchase ammunition outside Europe.

  1. We need to get some serious amounts of propellant, and explosives into Ukrainian hands. Also we need to fully fund Ukraine’s military industrial complex.
