This week, Ukrainian greenhouse plants have once again increased their selling prices for cucumbers.
This is stated in a report by the EastFruit project, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The main reason for such a sharp increase in prices was the seasonal reduction in the supply of vegetables in local farms, as well as the lack of competition from imports and very high demand from local wholesale companies and retail chains.
According to the project’s daily monitoring, the cucumber sales season in Ukrainian greenhouse plants is close to completion.
It is noted that farms are currently cleaning out greenhouses, so they offer their products mainly in small wholesale, and the quality of cucumbers in recent samples has significantly decreased, but this does not prevent sellers from raising selling prices in this segment.
The report says that today wholesale prices for cucumbers are on average 21% more expensive than at the end of last week, and are UAH 90-110 per kilogram, depending on the quality and volume of batches.
Today, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are already offered for sale on average 11% more expensive than in the same period last year.
According to experts, this situation on the Ukrainian market may lead to importers starting to supply these products from Turkey (🤮) next week.
In this case, prices for cucumbers from local farms may stop growing under the pressure of cheaper imported products.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, since the beginning of this week, selling prices for onions have been increasing on the domestic market of Ukraine.

Personally only had two cucumbers this year, but lots of zucchini and a ton of cherry tomatoes.
We always buy some, planning to make cucumber salad, then order pizza instead and after the cucumbers already turned yellow throw them away. 😂
Lol I understand. Here we tend to get a couple slices for something then the rest rots in the fridge till I throw it away.🤣
