The Russians who settled on the temporarily occupied peninsula will begin to flee.
The Crimean Bridge is a means by which Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is trying to control temporarily occupied Crimea. This opinion was expressed by Eskender Bariev, a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
“You need to understand that as long as Putin is the president of the Russian Federation, Crimea will remain a sacred place for him. Not only a political project, a logistics hub for Russian troops and a military base. He will hold on to the peninsula for a very long time. The Crimean bridge is a means for him, with the help whom he is trying to control Crimea,” he emphasized on the Espresso TV channel .
Bariev believes that when the illegally built bridge is destroyed, the Russians who settled on the peninsula during its occupation will begin to panic. They will start fleeing the Ukrainian Crimea.
“We said back in 2022 that they would try to seize the territories of Ukraine in order to form a land corridor to Crimea. That is why, when the Crimean bridge is destroyed, Crimea will turn into a trap for them. Then the Russians will really begin to flee from the peninsula. Not so, as today they say that they are sitting on their suitcases, and a real panic will set in. They already realize today that they did not move to Crimea forever,” he concluded.
Destruction of the Crimean Bridge
At the beginning of February 2024, the commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vice Admiral Alexei Neizhpapa, stated that the Crimean Bridge illegally built by the occupiers would not last until the end of 2024. He also agreed with the statement that the crossing can already be considered “dead.”
At the same time, military expert Pyotr Chernik says that to completely destroy such a logistics route of the Russian occupiers as the illegally built Crimean Bridge, about a hundred missiles may be needed.

It does not at all help Ukraine to make a statement like that. Many cities even in the non-occupied areas have up to 20% ethnic Russians. Without their contribution, I shudder to think how the army would shape up.
Ukraine is not a generic society. There are more than 100 ethnic groups. Most have been there for many centuries. The oldest are probably the Vangarians, Azov Greeks, Krymchaks and Tatars. All of these are if anything over-represented in Ukraine’s armed forces. Many thousands of Muslims fight for Ukraine. So many that they had to hire a load of Muslim chaplains. They are mainly Tatars and Chechens but there are many others; Kurds for example. Also Yazidis, who are basically Kurds that did not convert to Islam
Btw, just an idea: I don’t think that bridge could stand the impact of a supertanker running at full speed. I don’t think there’s any way to stop such a monster fast enough or to limit the destruction.
