Never forget! On this day in 1944 russia began deportation of Crimean Tatars. About 200 thousand were deported by cattle trains from Crimea, mostly women and children. Half of them died in the process of deportation.

People who don’t know the history repeat the russian propaganda, blaming NATO, Ukrainian “Nazis”, Zelenskyy, Johnson, and others for the war in Ukraine. But the truth is simple – russia has been committing genocide against its current and former colonies for centuries, kidnapping children and killing civilians.

Temporarily Crimea is occupied by russians. But Crimea is Ukraine and it will always be Ukraine.

More than 230,000 people were deported, mostly to Uzbekistan.

#Sürgünlik (‘exile’) was the ethnic cleansing and the cultural genocide of at least 191,044 Crimean Tatars which was carried out by Soviet Union authorities from 18 to 20 May 1944, supervised by Lavrentiy Beria,

But the truth is simple – #Russia has been committing #genocide against its current and former colonies for centuries, kidnapping children and killing civilians.

#Collectivization in the 1920s led to severe famine from which up to 100,000 #Crimeans perished when their crops were transported to “more important” regions of the Soviet Union. By one estimate, three-quarters of the famine victims were Crimean Tatars.

Temporarily, Crimea is occupied by Russians. But Crimea is #Ukraine and it will always be Ukraine.
