Consequences of the missile attack on Odesa: fires broke out, people remain under the rubble of the power station, there are casualties, the authorities are deploying Points of Invincibility

The number of people killed as a result of the morning rocket strike in the Odesa region has reached two people.

A 17-year-old boy was also injured, the regional military administration said.

According to “Dumska”, three dispatchers remain under the rubble of an electric substation in the Podilsky district, which was hit by enemy missiles. Their fate is still unknown.

Rescuers immediately started a search and rescue operation, trying to free people from the wreckage. Three cruise missiles hit the facility, causing significant damage. The first explosion rang out at 07:03, followed 15 seconds later by the second, and at 07:22 — the third.

According to rescuers, as a result of shelling in the region, fires broke out in three private residential buildings, four more houses were damaged.

According to preliminary information, one teenager was injured (probably the 17-year-old mentioned in the OVA report).

Rescuers also found a dog that was lost and handed it over to its owners.

According to Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov, all hospitals operate on generators, and Points of Invincibility will be opened in the city.

In order to somehow compensate for the non-working electric transport, additional buses were brought to the line.

161 communal points of invincibility are planned to be launched within 2 hours.

“In total, there are 445 Points of Invincibility in the city. I appeal to state institutions and businesses that are working today to provide places for recharging gadgets for the residents of the districts,” said Trukhanov.

As of 10:00 a.m., 445 points have already been deployed in the region. If necessary, 357 more will be opened.

In Odesa, there are now huge queues at the pump stations, the atmosphere there is tense. People are not too friendly and sociable, which can be understood.

Stores also buy water, but there is no shortage.

Some traffic lights are not working. The mayor’s office claims that key intersections are regulated after all, thanks to the batteries at the traffic lights.

Odessans are not inclined to despair and hope for a quick end to these communal troubles.

“I wake up – it’s cold, I go to the switch, there is no light. Then there is no water. It’s good that I have a reserve on the sixth floor – three containers. I hope they will do something. The condition is already nervous. Nothing can be planned – neither for an hour nor for a day. We live like animals,” the Odesa woman shared with “Dumska”.

As it turned out, not all townspeople are ready for blackouts of light, water and other benefits of civilization.

“We experienced all this, as usual, with fear and stress. We have water, but there are problems with light. And we did not expect such a situation, although there is a supply of water – we drink water from the pump, it is tastier than from the pipes. Tomorrow we will go to the pump room again – so that there are no queues like today,” says this married couple.

  1. Updated at 16:21. At approximately 15:40, DTEK Odessa Electric Grids announced that power engineers were able to restore equipment damaged by the enemy and supply voltage to critical infrastructure facilities that provide water and heat to residents of the Kievsky district of Odessa and adjacent territories.

The issue is that by the end of the day, water and heat will appear in the homes of Odessans and residents of the Odessa region. At the same time, it is noted that emergency repair work on the main energy facilities of another company continues.

“The situation remains very difficult, emergency shutdowns are in effect. If the power comes on, we recommend using it wisely – do not turn on several energy-intensive devices at the same time, but use them one by one,” DTEK said.
