I examine Ukraine’s reported restoration of Starlink and Starshield connectivity after congressional pressure, and why stable satellite links matter for drone operations, logistics, and frontline command. But the larger military problem remains acute: President Zelensky says Ukraine received only 24 Patriot interceptors from the United States in 90 days, despite a stated need for 350 per month. With air-to-air missiles scarce, Ukraine’s 107th Aviation Wing is reportedly using F-16 20mm cannons against Russian cruise missiles.
I also assess Zelensky’s refusal to recognize occupied territory as Russian, claims about Ukrainian corruption and mobilization exemptions, and Russia’s effort to expand war-ending negotiations into a broader European-security settlement. Moscow-linked voices are again invoking the December 2021 demands: rolling NATO’s posture in Eastern Europe back, limiting enlargement, lifting sanctions, and accepting territorial seizures. The strategic question is whether Europe is allowed a seat at the table when its security architecture is on the line.
