The newly elected President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has chosen South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as the new Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

CNN writes about this , citing two people who are familiar with the process of selecting the politician’s new team. According to reporters, Noem will oversee an agency that “oversees everything” from the Customs Service and Immigration Police to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Secret Service:

“By choosing Noem, Trump is ensuring that someone loyal to him will lead an agency that is a priority for him and is key to his domestic agenda.”

Leading positions will also be given to key supporters of tough US immigration policy – Stephen Miller and Tom Homan. 

What Noem said about Ukraine

In the spring of 2023, she called the United States’ military aid to Ukraine a costly strategic mistake, pushing Russia into an alliance with China.

“This should be Europe’s fight, not ours. We should not waste taxpayers’ money under the threat of nuclear war,” she said.

Killing animals

This year, the politician released a book in which she talked about killing her own dog. As The Guardian writes , the dog named Cricket was about 14 months old. According to Noah, he strangled the neighbor’s chickens, and also “had fun” hunting and disobeyed her.

“I hated him. He was unyielding, dangerous to everyone he came in contact with, and less than worthless as a hunting dog,” she wrote.

The woman took the dog to a gravel pit and shot it. After that, she decided to “do one more nasty job” by dragging her family’s goat into the pit. She explained the murder by the fact that he was “nasty and evil”, “liked to chase children” and smelled bad. The goat survived the first shot, but she finished him off.
