Chinese President Xi praises ‘friend’ Putin, slams international ‘bullying’ in Moscow

Chinese President Xi Jinping has spoken warmly about his “old friend” Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, during a visit to the Kremlin.

Xi said that the ties between their countries are only getting stronger and that China wants to stand up to Russia against international “bullying”.”China will work with Russia to counter the international backlash of unilateralism and hegemonic bullying and to assume the special responsibilities of major world powers,” Xi told Putin.

The Chinese leader seems to be referring to the West’s stance on the world stage.

China is engaged in a trade war with the United States and the Americans, like the European Union, have imposed many sanctions on Russia after the invasion of Ukraine.Putin also greeted Xi as a “dear friend” and thanked him for coming to Moscow. Xi is in the Russian capital to attend a military parade on Victory Day on Friday.
