Greta Thunberg, Joaquin Phoenix and fellow eco-luminaries used Earth Day Wednesday to rejoice in the global economic shutdown that has led to a reduction in carbon emissions.
The pandemic has been a dream come true for climate alarmists . . . if you ignore all the misery.
They wanted us to switch off our economies to prevent a supposed climate apocalypse in 10 years and — hey, presto! — their wish was granted by a virus.
Thunberg, the 17-year-old Swedish climate evangelist, did caution her fellow warriors not to be too “optimistic” about the pause in carbon pollution because the so-called climate crisis “is not slowing down.”
But other activists seized the pandemic opportunity to push their agenda, as Democrats tried to shoehorn their Green New Deal into economic-relief bills.
“Neither Greenpeace, nor Greta Thunberg, nor any other individual or collective organization have achieved so much in favor of the health of the planet in such a short time,” Spanish scientist Martín López Corredoira crowed on the Science 2.0 blog.
“A miracle happened . . . It is certainly not very good for the economy in general, but it is fantastic for the environment.”
It sure is a high price to pay for the dubious benefit of temporarily reducing greenhouse-gas emissions.
But that is the price climate alarmists have been demanding, to slash emissions by crippling our economies in an uncertain bid to dial down Earth’s temperature. Now we see what that means.

It is a nice example of framing : the activists were not hailing the virus, but I think they correctly noticed the environment improving because of it.
Also those that were happy the canals in Venice are clean now, were not necessarily happy in general.
I think this is poor journalism, because they are claiming things that people didn’t really say, to creative the narrative that people that are worried about the environment do not care about jobs and the well-being of people.
So I may assume that when you are unemployed or have financial problems, you are refusing any state assistance as it is leftist?
The chicom bat virus has caused me very severe financial problems as all bar one of my income channels have dried up. Like many people, I am not entitled to any state support. I would not hesitate to take it if it was available, because I have paid in far more than I ever took out. But as it happens it isn’t. I am not now receiving and never have received state assistance. I have however had to request loans from friends and family, but have not so far been successful because they have their own problems.
My Twitter account has been shut down, including Ukraine Today. On the latter i only posted articles. Crazy! The left is going rabid since Trump’s approval ratings are growing. Happened to me and Focus on Facebook, too. Maybe ruSSian involvement as well?…

When the .org fee expired i fear we won’t get back online. We should make a backup site on WP and post the link here shortly before this site here expires, so that if anything goes wrong our followers know where to find us.
We’re not going anywhere. I believe this account is on cruise control. It doesn’t pay for itself yet, maybe next year, but I’ve had no issues with WP. It is OUR address and as long as I have a job, it will be open.

There you go. Notifications can be a pain but I know you love them. I think the default settings for notifications here on WP are a terrible burden and think those defaults keep a lot of people away.
