CARGILL became the majority owner of one of the largest grain terminals in Ukraine

Cargill became the majority (51%) owner of a joint venture with Neptune Port Holding BV LLC “M.V. Cargo ”- Neptune grain terminal in the port of South with a design capacity of 5 million tons per year.

“Neptune is responding to the growing demand for deep-sea port infrastructure in Ukraine by giving farmers access to new remote markets,” Cargill said in a statement.

The American company recalled that in 2016 it signed an agreement on the construction of the terminal, which began operations in 2019.

“Neptune strengthens Cargill’s port infrastructure in the Black Sea region, so we continue to invest in Ukraine’s agricultural sector,” Cargill added.

Neptune cultivates various types of cereals and oilseeds, primarily corn, barley and wheat. Depth at the terminal berth – 16 m, which allows you to take large vessels. Cargill is an important user of the terminal, exporting a significant part of its products purchased in Ukraine. At the same time, Neptune serves other customers.

“In short: Cargill had a commitment to enter the project, and we signed up to bring the terminal up to Cargill standards. Now Yegor Grebennikov and I are practically equal partners with the largest private food corporation in the world, ”commented Andriy Stavnitser, co-owner of the Neptune terminal.
