BY THE END OF THE YEAR, ALL INTERNATIONAL ROUTES OF UKRAINE WILL BE COVERED BY HIGH-QUALITY MOBILE INTERNET

The two largest mobile operators in the country – Kyivstar and Vodafone – have provided 4 main networks of the country with 4G network: Kyiv – Lviv, Kyiv – Odessa, Kyiv – Kharkiv and Kyiv – Dnipro. The rest of the international routes should get high-speed Internet by the end of 2022. And by 2024, 4G will appear on all roads in Ukraine and in rural areas. Relevant steps include licenses for mobile operators, according to the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

High-speed mobile internet on the roads is part of the LTE900 project, which started in the summer of 2020. On September 20, 2021, the State Special Communications Administration issued an order “On Approval of Requirements for the Level of Quality of Mobile Communications Services”, which establishes modern indicators of communication quality. A law has recently been passed on a regulator that will monitor operators’ compliance.

Access to quality mobile communications and the Internet on the roads is a component of the National Barrier-Free Strategy. First of all, it is about access to online services for all social groups. Digital accessibility will improve the lives of citizens as well as rebuilt infrastructure.
