British, French, Germans and Poles fear Russian Attack and Support Aid for Ukraine: Poll

03/09/2025

In the UK, France, Germany and Poland, a majority of respondents believe that
Russia could attack European countries in the coming years. Respondents also support continued aid to Ukraine, which is fighting back against the aggressor country.

This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the independent non-governmental organization More in Common, the BBC reports . Thus, 60% of French people believe that Russia’s invasion of other European countries, except for Ukraine, is possible in the coming years.

In the UK and Poland, 68% of respondents hold this opinion, and in Germany, 53%.

Two-thirds (66%) of Britons and Poles surveyed believe it is necessary to continue supporting Ukraine even if the US stops providing aid to Kyiv. In France, 57% of respondents think so, in Germany – 54%.

At the same time, the attitude towards the idea of sending peacekeepers from European countries to Ukraine after a ceasefire or a peace agreement is reached is not so clear-cut. In Britain, 57% support it, in France – 44%, in Germany – 41%, and in Poland – only 27%.

This survey was conducted online from March 2-5, with 1,503 respondents in France, 1,093 in the UK, 1,513 in Germany, and 1,000 in Poland.

We previously reported that three-quarters of French citizens surveyed no longer consider the United States an ally of their country . Most of them changed their minds after the dispute in the White House between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump, whom the French consider the culprit of the scandal.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron’s approval rating has risen amid his support for Ukraine and calls for increased defense spending in Europe. One in three citizens now supports the politician.

As OBOZ.UA reported, Lithuanian intelligence believes that within 3-5 years Russia will create a military potential sufficient for “limited actions” against one or even several NATO countries . This period will not be enough to prepare for a full-scale war with the Alliance, but the probability that the aggressor country will initiate military action is quite high.

  1. The poll shows that a frightful number of Europeans are still living in the world that existed before this full-fledged war started. Certainly, this is due to a lack of communication between the various governments, the EU, and especially the press with the people of the continent.
I can understand wanting to keep everyone calm by sweeping the aftermath of a Ukrainian defeat or bad peace deal under the carpet. The important thing is that the collective governments, the EU, NATO, and defense industries know what’s at stake and are doing their very best to prevent Ukraine’s defeat.
We are facing an existential threat by the Trump-Putin-Xi axis! Now! Not in ten years, or so!
A Ukrainian defeat will have catastrophic consequences in all of Europe, the free world, and indeed, around the globe. This is a fact and should never be forgotten. The West must stand its ground and start doing what is necessary, fast. Hindsight in this case means it’s game over for our freedom. There will be no turning back in our lifetimes and without outrageous costs in lives and treasure.
