British American Tobacco is reforming its corporate governance structure in Eastern Europe
From 2020, British American Tobacco is moving its regional center from Kyiv to Romania and the Ukrainian office will be incorporated into another region, NV Business reports.
At the request of the publication, the Kyiv office of British American Tobacco reported that the decision was due, among other things, to the unpredictable fiscal and regulatory policy of the Ukrainian government.
The company also assured that the changes would not cause a significant review of the state in Ukraine.
Earlier in September, British American Tobacco announced an “important step towards simplifying business and transforming the company into a more efficient and flexible organization.” Its goal is to develop a portfolio of new products.
British American Tobacco Ukraine was established in 1993 at the base of a tobacco factory in Pryluky. The company’s portfolio includes international brands KENT, Rothmans, Pall Mall, Vogue, Dunhill, Lucky Strike, Capri, Glo, as well as national Pryluki cigarettes. In 2018, the company paid over 65 million dollars in taxes to the state budget of Ukraine. It is part of the British American Tobacco Group, which is the world’s second-largest tobacco company.

Something ain’t right here, this company took 26 years to come up with this BS story, only a month after a new government is elected?
Good grief, you learn something every day!
They used to have an enormous factory in Southampton, Southern England when I lived there, my Mother worked there for many years and we both were shareholders. If memory serves, they closed down operations in the UK and moved to China when the attitude towards smoking became adverse.
To find out they have a Factory in Pryluky is amazing as it is somewhere we go every time we are in Ukraine!

Ukraine has recently raised the price of tobacco. But, this has nothing to do with the company’s move, or?
As the name suggests, they are an International Company, they will move to where they can make the most money.
I fail to see how moving to an EU country will make them more money. Costs will be much higher in wages, etc.
As I said above, they moved to China, so far as I am aware, Bramtoco, as they were known, don’t have anything in the UK or US ironically.
They will go anywhere the smoking market is good and not hostile.
Don’t smoke their bullshit anyway…
Or anybodys.
