Special forces and aviation units of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) have launched a complex airborne operation into the city of Pokrovsk, Suspilne reported on October 31, citing sources within the Defense Forces.
According to the source, HUR assault units entered areas of Pokrovsk that Russian commanders had earlier declared “captured.” These districts are considered strategically important for Ukrainian logistics, and several helicopters are reportedly involved in the operation.
The head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, is said to be on site, personally overseeing the mission.
During a briefing on October 31, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian forces had concentrated about 170,000 troops near Pokrovsk, describing the situation in the area as extremely difficult.
Previously, Zelenskyy identified Pokrovsk as the primary focus of Russian military aggression, with intense fighting ongoing in and around the city.
A helicopter assault? I think this is a first in this war, as far as I know.
I do hope that the AFU has more in store to waste lots of cockroaches.
Hopefully Budanov can sort something out because this Syrskyi seems to leave everything too late. Losing men just for the sake of it, is not the best ploy.

Even Turkey has only 212.000 and they are second in size in Nato only to the U.S.

Yet Ukraine is still left alone to deal with this horror. Apparently ZSU forces are outnumbered 8-1 in the Pokrovsk direction.
It’s just ridiculous and heartbreaking.
Post WW2, the UK had 80,000 troops in west Germany alone. They had tactical nukes too.
Over the years we ran it down to almost zero.
The U.S. still has 35,000. Down from over 100,000.
Other armies in Europe still remain small.
Post 2014, no one did anything.
I believe that if the U.S. had elected McCain instead of closet tankie Obama, he would have sent troops to southern Ukraine and asked the British to join in.
