BREAKING NEWS: Zelenskyy responded to Musk’s accusations over Starlink

According to the presidential advisor, the Armed Forces of Ukraine physically cannot use commercial Starlink for deep strikes and middle strikes.

Advisor to the President of Ukraine on the development of technological areas of defense, Serhiy (Flash) Beskrestnov, responded to businessman Elon Musk’s accusations of violating the terms of using Starlink for drone strikes.

“It is very strange that Elon Musk does not know about the restrictions on Starlink operations in Ukraine. Starting from the winter of 2026, all Starlink terminals over the territory of Ukraine (including occupied territories) have a speed limit of 70-90 km/h. And Starlink does not operate over the territory of Russia,” he wrote .

According to him, thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine physically cannot use commercial Starlink for deep strikes and middle strikes.

Ukrainian volunteer Serhiy Sternenko also rejected Musk’s claim.

“Elon Musk claims that Ukraine allegedly violated the rules for using Starlink and used this system on combat drones. As a person who was inside the process at the Ministry of Defense, I can say for sure that this is not true,” he noted.

Sternenko recalled that in February of this year, “white” lists were introduced: both military and civilians could register stationary terminals.

“But in order for any satellite terminal to work while in motion, it was necessary to include it in a special list and connect it to the Starshield military system. Otherwise, any satellite communication terminals in Ukraine would not work. That is, it was technically impossible to use civilian Starlink to perform drone missions. All drone missions that required satellite communication could only be carried out using Starshield,” the public figure added.

Musk’s accusations

Musk previously said that Ukraine had allegedly violated the terms of use of Starlink for drone strikes . According to the SpaceX founder, the use of the civilian Starlink system for drone attacks with the aim of killing people was never authorized. He claims that Ukraine used Starlink for such strikes, and the corresponding ability was restricted last week.

Musk also stated that Starshield is a separate system controlled by the US government, and the decision on its use is made by the American authorities.
