Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed the official number of Ukrainian soldiers killed in the war. He made the announcement in an interview with the French television channel France 2 .

“In Ukraine, the official number of soldiers killed on the battlefield, whether regular or mobilized, is 55,000,” he said, noting that there are “a large number of people whom Ukraine considers missing.”

In February 2025, in an interview with American media, the president stated that 46,000 soldiers were officially counted dead. At that time, there were also reports of 380,000 wounded defenders.
