The US decision to suspend deliveries of anti-aircraft missiles will significantly affect Ukraine’s ability to resist Russian missile and drone attacks, the Financial Times reports .

The author of the publication emphasizes that Washington’s decision appeared literally three days after the largest Russian missile and drone strike on Ukraine during the entire war and generally against the backdrop of the escalation of recent months.

“We were counting on many of these systems, as we were promised. This significantly affects our planning,” a Ukrainian military official told the publication on condition of anonymity. He warned that the Americans had put Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure at risk.

According to officials, the Pentagon’s decision suspends the transfer to Ukraine: 

• dozens of PAC-3 anti-aircraft missiles for Patriot systems;
• dozens of Stinger man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems;
• an unspecified number of precision artillery shells;
• more than 100 Hellfire multi-purpose missiles and AIM anti-aircraft missiles, designed for use by NASAMS ground-based anti-aircraft missile systems and F-16 fighters;
• AT4 anti-tank grenade launchers; 
• about 250 GMLRS rockets, which are launched by HIMARS and M270 MLRS installations.

The Pentagon has not officially confirmed the list of weapons that have been stopped being supplied to Ukraine.

US halts key weapons deliveries

As UNIAN reported, the day before, Western media reported the Pentagon’s decision to suspend the supply of some anti-aircraft missiles and high-precision artillery ammunition to Ukraine. This is a new weapon, the production of which was financed during the Biden era precisely within the framework of the already agreed military aid to Ukraine. Now it will be sent from factories to US army warehouses, and not to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense says that it has not yet received any official notification about the suspension of American aid. The Ukrainian department is currently trying to clarify this issue with its American colleagues.
