The Nobel Committee previously emphasized that the prize cannot be transferred to another person.

Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, who is also the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, said she has presented her award to US President Donald Trump.

According to Reuters , Machado presented the American leader with a Nobel Prize medal. However, she did not respond to journalists’ inquiries about whether he accepted the gift.

Machado said she was struck by how clearly Trump understood the situation in Venezuela.

“We were able to calmly talk about the expectations and dreams of Venezuelans in this very difficult moment we are experiencing, but which is also full of hope,” she added.

Is the Nobel Peace Prize transferable?

As early as January 9, the Norwegian Nobel Committee emphasized that once a Nobel Prize laureate has been announced, it cannot be revoked, divided, or transferred to other persons.

“The decision is final and remains in force forever,” they said.

Reuters notes that if Trump did accept the medal, it wouldn’t be the first time. In 1943, Nobel Literature laureate Knut Hamsun presented his medal to Nazi Germany’s propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels.
