The administration of United States President Donald Trump has suspended sanctions against a number of Russian banks.
The corresponding statement was published by the US Treasury Department. It is noted that sanctions have been partially lifted from institutions participating in civil nuclear energy projects.
The Ministry has issued a general license that allows for transactions with certain Russian banks until June 18, 2026. We are talking about transactions related to projects launched before November 21, 2024.
The US Treasury Department has authorized transactions with the following banks:
- Gazprombank,
- Sberbank,
- VTB,
- Alfa-Bank,
- Sovcombank,
- Otkritie Bank,
- Rosbank,
- Zenit Bank,
- Bank “Saint Petersburg”,
- National Clearing House,
- Central Bank of the Russian Federation, etc.
The license issued by the US Treasury Department also applies to companies in which the aforementioned banks own a 50% or more stake. The permission applies only to those operations that are carried out to support civil nuclear energy. The rest are subject to sanctions.
