BREAKING NEWS: US Senate demands investigation into Hegseth’s actions due to suspension of arms supplies to Ukraine, media reports

Republicans in the US Senate are demanding an in-depth investigation into the suspension of arms supplies to Ukraine, a decision made unilaterally by Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth.

This is reported by The Hill, Censor.NET reports .

Republican senators say reports that Hegseth froze arms shipments to Ukraine without the approval of US President Trump raise “serious questions about the level of coordination between the White House and the Pentagon.”

“This is a clear mistake on many levels,” the source told the publication.

According to him, the senators are urging Congress to look into the matter in depth because if Hegseth or senior members of his team are deliberately bypassing the commander-in-chief, it creates “a serious problem that needs to be addressed.”

The Hill’s interlocutor emphasized that in addition to the lack of coordination between the branches of US government, the very fact of suspending arms supplies to Ukraine is alarming.

“I am concerned to hear that there may have been other pauses, or that this pause lasted longer than any of us know. It’s not like we’re talking about selling small arms to some African country, it’s Ukraine,” he stressed.

One of the sharpest criticisms was made by Republican Senator Tom Tillis, who said in an interview with CNN that Hegseth’s decision to halt arms supplies to Ukraine was “amateurish.”

“Now, as time has passed, I think it’s become clear that he’s not up to the task of leading a large, complex organization,” the senator said.

Senator Lindsey Graham said that Congress must “get to the bottom” of who ordered the freeze on military aid to Ukraine and why.

US suspends aid to Ukraine

Earlier, media reported that the US had suspended the shipment of missiles and ammunition to Ukraine due to concerns about the state of American arsenals. Later, the White House confirmed the suspension of the supply of missiles and ammunition to Ukraine and stated that US interests were the priority.

A PBS journalist said that in addition to PAC-3 interceptor missiles intended for Patriot systems, the Pentagon has also stopped the supply of 155-mm artillery shells, GMLRS missiles intended for the M270 MLRS and HIMARS systems, Stinger anti-tank missiles, as well as AIM-7 and Hellfire air-to-air missiles.

The Ministry of Defense stated that Ukraine has not received official notifications about the suspension or revision of schedules for the delivery of defense assistance from the United States, agreed upon under the previous administration.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a video address on July 2, spoke about the progress of negotiations with the United States on the suspension of defense assistance.

Subsequently, US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce stated that the US had not stopped supplying weapons to Ukraine , and the situation with one of the decisions did not affect Washington’s overall obligations.

US President Donald Trump has said that his administration intends to supply Ukraine with more defensive weapons .

According to media reports, Trump promised Zelensky to send Ukraine 10 Patriot missiles .

Some American media outlets wrote that Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth unilaterally made the decision to suspend arms supplies to Ukraine and did not inform the White House about it.

On July 10, the US resumed supplies of 155-mm shells and high-precision GMLRS missiles to Ukraine.
