The US has allowed the import of certain categories of diamonds from Russia.

This is stated in the general license issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury Department, reports Censor.NET.

The license allows certain diamonds that were physically located outside of Russia before March 1, 2024, to be imported into the United States until September 1, 2026.

“These transactions are permitted until 00:01 Eastern Daylight Time on September 1, 2026, provided that the diamonds were physically located outside the Russian Federation before, and were not exported or re-exported from the Russian Federation after March 1, 2024 – for non-industrial diamonds weighing 1.0 carats or more; or September 1, 2024 – for non-industrial diamonds weighing 0.5 carats or more,” the document states.

At the same time, diamonds mined in Russia after the specified deadlines remain prohibited, as before. It is also prohibited to conduct transactions with individuals or companies subject to sanctions.
