The plant’s capacity, according to Russian sources, is 8.8 million tons of oil per year.

Primary oil refining at Russia’s Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery , owned by Russia’s largest oil company Rosneft, has been halted since August 2 following an attack by Ukrainian drones.

This was reported to Reuters by two sources who asked for anonymity. According to the agency’s sources, the main primary oil refining unit, KDU-11, was damaged as a result of the attack.

Journalists note that the plant has two such units: KDU-11 with a capacity of 18,900 tons per day and KDU-9 with a capacity of 4,700 tons per day. However, the enterprise planned to stop KDU-9 in August for major scheduled repairs, which will be completed, approximately, in September.

Reuters sources add that the Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery recently processed about 18,000 tons of crude oil per day.

“Last year, the plant processed 5.74 million tons of oil, produced 1.10 million tons of motor gasoline, 1.64 million tons of diesel fuel and 1.27 million tons of fuel oil, according to industry sources,” the agency notes.

The Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery is the most powerful oil refinery among the plants of the Samara Rosneft Group. It can process 8.8 million tons of oil per year, and also produces fuel for Russian Tu-22M3 aircraft.
