The German Chancellor did not disclose details regarding the number of missiles.

Ukraine will receive long-range missiles . This announcement was made by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at a press conference with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson in Berlin.

“For several months, we have been working intensively with the Ukrainian government to implement projects for long-range missiles, as we technically call them. The Ukrainian army will be equipped with such weapons systems,” Anadolu Ajansi reports .

He did not provide details regarding the number of missiles or the timing of their delivery. The Chancellor also declined to answer a question about Germany’s previous reluctance to supply Ukraine with Taurus long-range cruise missiles. He described this approach as a tactic to increase pressure on Russia.

“We agreed that we will no longer publicly discuss details, as we believe a certain ambiguity is necessary, especially for the Russian side, regarding the scope of our military support in this area. I can only say that we are doing everything possible to equip the Ukrainian army with weapons systems that have the appropriate range. And this will continue in the coming weeks and months, and if necessary, even to the point of producing such weapons systems in Ukraine itself,” Merz stated.

Merz’s response to Russian attacks in Ukraine

The German Chancellor accused Russia of deliberately targeting Ukraine’s civilian energy infrastructure ahead of winter. He called Moscow’s actions a “terrorist war against the civilian population.”

Merz stated that Europe will continue to provide support to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses. Specifically, Berlin will allocate an additional 3 billion euros in military aid next year.

He also hopes that EU leaders will be able to reach an agreement next month on using frozen Russian assets to provide financial support to Ukraine.Read also:

Merz on the US-Russia “peace plan”

The German politician declined to provide details amid reports that the Trump administration is quietly working on a peace plan to end the war between Ukraine and Russia. He said he does not expect significant progress in the near future.

“We are in close daily contact with the US administration, including our advisors, to determine whether we can develop a plan. However, it is currently impossible to predict whether this will lead to results in the short term. Nevertheless, the German government and my personal staff are in daily contact with the US administration on this matter,” he stated.

  1. The only long-range missiles in Germany’s arsenal is the Taurus. So, this is what is being talked about, and it seems that Merz is indeed fulfilling his promise to Ukraine in this regard.
