Today, October 9, Moscow is under attack by drones and balloons. Explosions are heard throughout the city. In response to these events, all four Moscow airports are suspending or canceling flights.

The Ukrainian air campaign to block Russian airspace began in Moscow. Hundreds of flights are being delayed and canceled at Moscow airports, according to the Telegram channel Ukraine Context , which is considered close to the head of the Presidential Administration, Kirill Budanov.

In particular, it is noted that the previously promised campaign to block Russian airspace began with a slight delay.

“But there were compelling reasons for this and requests from some partners,” the statement said.

According to the Russian opposition Telegram channel ASTRA , Moscow and the surrounding region were attacked by drones and small balloons.

Reports of Russian air defense operations are coming in from southern Moscow. Specifically, residents of the Kapotnya, Kuzminki, Lyublino, Maryino, Tsaritsyno, Chertanovo, Orekhovo-Borisovo, Tekstilshchiki, Nagatinsky Zaton, and other districts report hearing explosions, and some report observing air defense operations.

Rosaviatsia reported that the “Kovyor” plan is being implemented at four Moscow airports – Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, and Sheremetyevo.

At the same time, as other reports on Russian social media indicate, more than 200 flights are delayed and more than 200 canceled at Moscow airports.

This is due to restrictions imposed due to the danger posed by drones. Specifically, restrictions were in effect at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky airports starting at midnight local time. Initially, these restrictions lasted until 7:00 a.m. Later in the day, restrictions were reintroduced at some Moscow airports, and as of 3:40 p.m., all of these airports, including Sheremetyevo, are once again closed to aircraft.

Total Plan “Carpet”

As UNIAN reported, on September 1, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared that Russian airspace was becoming completely dangerous . He made this statement to international partners and airlines flying to Russian cities.

Some Western analysts believed that Zelenskyy’s statement could influence the thinking of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and the future of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
