There are only minor details left to be sorted out.

The Ukrainian government has agreed to a US “peace agreement” brokered by the Donald Trump administration to halt Russia’s nearly four-year offensive,  CBS News reported , citing a US official.

He and Ukrainian Presidential National Security Advisor Rustem Umerov stated that a common understanding had been reached on the proposal, but the details still needed to be worked out.

“The Ukrainians have agreed to a peace agreement. There are some minor details that need to be ironed out, but they are in agreement,” the American official said.

It is noted that this news broke while US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll was in Abu Dhabi meeting with Russian officials. Russia, which invaded Ukraine, has not yet responded to the agreements reached in Abu Dhabi.

A U.S. military official in Abu Dhabi told CBS News that Driscoll spent hours negotiating with Russian officials on Tuesday, appearing in and out of meetings throughout the day. He said:

“We remain very optimistic. Secretary Driscoll is optimistic. We hope we’ll hear back from the Russians soon. Things are moving quickly.”

A U.S. official told CBS News that a Ukrainian delegation was also present and in contact with Driscoll and his team.

A source familiar with the situation said Driscoll is working in Abu Dhabi on a revised version of the White House’s 28-point proposal following productive talks in Geneva.

Discussion of the US “peace plan”

Last weekend, Driscoll, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and diplomats from Ukraine and European allies participated in talks in Geneva, Switzerland. As a result, the parties amended the “peace plan,” leaving only 19 of the 28 points .

Driscoll’s meeting with Russian officials also followed a visit to the Ukrainian capital last week.

On Saturday, a group of NATO members and other US allies issued a joint statement calling the proposed peace plan “a framework that requires further elaboration.”

The White House announced Sunday evening that US and Ukrainian officials had “developed a revised and updated peace framework” following discussions in Geneva. Rubio called one of the Geneva meetings “very substantive,” but added that “there’s still some work to be done, and that’s what our teams will be doing right now.”

  1. This will be another nothingburger. Are the US so dumb as to believe putler will end this war? TACO wants to do a victory lap while russia will continue genocide in Ukraine and claim he stopped another war.

  2. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the Kremlin will not accept a plan that “erases” the agreements allegedly reached between Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Trump at their meeting in Anchorage.

  3. There will be no peace. Not until the mafia army is defeated and destroyed, or the vampire has a wooden stake stuck where a heart should be.
