The meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States is scheduled to begin in about an hour.
Before meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Donald Trump managed to speak by phone with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The American leader announced this on the social media platform TruthSocial .
“I just had a good and very productive phone call with President Putin of Russia prior to my meeting with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine today at 1:00 PM (8:00 PM Kyiv time – UNIAN). The meeting will take place in the main dining room of the Mar-a-Lago Hotel. The press is invited,” Trump wrote.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the conversation in a comment to Russian media , but did not provide details at this time.
Zelensky and Trump meeting
As UNIAN reported, the presidents of Ukraine and the United States will meet today at Trump’s private residence in Florida to discuss ways to end the Russian-Ukrainian war. According to media reports, the key topic of discussion is expected to be American security guarantees for Ukraine . These are believed to be close to being agreed upon, and will constitute a truly reliable security protocol.

Seeing that TACO didn’t even show a scrap of respect by having someone from the state dept to meet with Zelensky, I’m sure Zelensky is well prepared and knows what to expect, especially if TACO has his attack dogs present.
The two leaders also exchanged a series of courtesies. Trump spoke of the impressive prospects for US economic cooperation with Russia and Ukraine if the war ends. They also exchanged New Year’s greetings and wished happiness to “the peoples of both countries.”
According to Ushakov, following today’s meeting with Zelensky, Trump will call Putin again.
