US President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine should hold elections. He made this statement in an interview with Politico .
When asked by a journalist whether he thought it was time to hold elections in Ukraine, the head of the White House answered in the affirmative.
“Yes. I think so. It’s been a long time… Things haven’t been going very well. Yes, I think it’s time. I think it’s an important time to have elections,” the US President noted.
He also said that in Ukraine they are “using the war” allegedly to avoid holding elections.
“They’re using war to avoid elections, but I think the Ukrainian people should have had that choice. And maybe Zelenskyy (Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy – ed.) would have won. I don’t know who would have won. But they haven’t had elections in a long time. You know, they talk about democracy, but it’s getting to the point where it’s not democracy anymore,” Trump said.
