Negotiations have been ongoing for the past few days on how to help Ukraine, the publication writes.

Germany should provide Ukraine with its own Patriot systems, rather than buying them from the United States, as previously announced, Bild reports , citing a source in the German government.

It is noted that the original plan was for the Americans to supply Ukraine with Patriots from their own reserves, with Germany covering the costs. However, Trump refused to sell the air defense systems that are in service with the American military, and therefore European countries will have to find systems for Ukraine within their own borders.

According to the publication, confidential negotiations have been ongoing for the past few days on how to help Ukraine.

According to Bild, a solution is emerging: Switzerland will move down the queue for Patriot systems, and the first installation will go not to Bern, but to Ukraine – at Germany’s expense. However, this installation is still being completed by the American defense company Raytheon, and it will not be ready for the first 6-8 months.Read also:

To help Kyiv more quickly, according to the publication, an option is being considered for Germany to transfer its Patriot complex to Ukraine and instead order a new one from Raytheon, but its delivery will take years.

The publication emphasizes that the Bundeswehr already has a shortage of air defense systems. At the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the German troops had 12 Patriot systems, three of which were transferred to Ukraine. In addition, two systems are deployed in Poland to protect the airport through which NATO supplies weapons to Ukraine.

According to Bild, three systems are currently undergoing upgrades and are therefore temporarily unavailable for use. Another system is needed for training soldiers. Thus, today, a maximum of three systems remain for the country’s own air defense. If one of them is transferred to Ukraine, only two will remain.

The situation is likely to improve in a few years. The government has ordered eight new Patriot systems, the first of which is due to arrive in the Luftwaffe in late 2026, with the rest by 2029.

  1. Anyone still Think that Trump can be trusted. He’s a fuckin worm akin to the scum growing in a pond

    • Its more likely there will be a clarification or another informed decision tomorrow. Besides, there has been a lot of confusion of which Patriots we are all talking about and this new trade system with NATO.
