Trump is now much less inclined to help Kyiv or seek an end to the war, the publication believes.

US President Donald Trump’s hardline stance on the war in Ukraine has softened in recent weeks, causing confusion among his European allies, who are confused about his ultimate goal. According to Fox News , Trump now appears much less inclined to help Kyiv or seek an end to the war.
The publication notes that this turnaround began “quietly two weeks ago” when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Washington.
Many expected Trump to approve the sale of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, but he did not. Then, the US Department of Defense announced the return home of the US Army rotational brigade stationed in Romania, as well as units in Hungary and Bulgaria. Trump called the troop withdrawal “minor,” though European allies interpreted it differently.
“This would be an invitation for Russia to step up its attacks on Ukraine and increase its influence in the region,” one European official told Fox News.
Trump’s softening stance was also evident in his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday. Despite previously insisting on limiting Russian oil purchases from India, Trump made no similar demands of Xi. The issue of ending the war was also raised, but in a significantly less insistent tone, Fox News reports:
“For a president who promised to ‘end the war on day one,’ these comments signal a shift from urgency to resignation—and a foreign policy that increasingly looks reactive rather than strategic.”
At the same time, not everyone in Europe is alarmed by these changes, noting that Trump has imposed effective sanctions against Russian giants Lukoil and Rosneft.
“Sanctions are a step with real consequences. European troops are expected to withdraw, but the changes seem minor,” said another European official. “The rest is typical Trumpian gyrations: he swings back and forth.”
As the publication notes, while Trump insists his administration is pursuing peace “by force,” his recent actions and rhetoric paint a more complex picture, leaving allies wondering which version of Trump’s Ukraine policy will prevail in the next phase.

Trump did not ask Xi to stop buying Russian oil. Trump is back to square one, supporting Russia.
TACO just being TACO. He will never help Ukraine. These oil sanctions are for the benefit of the ME terrorists he’s in bed with.
All for the ass so far. 😤

It didn’t start with Zelensky, it started with his phone call to Putin.
