Trump believes this could prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons.
US President Donald Trump discussed with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the possibility of striking a nuclear facility in Iran, Israeli journalist Barak Ravid reported, The Times of Israel reports .
It is noted that Trump is considering the possibility of striking the nuclear facility in Fordow. According to Ravid, with such an attack, the US president wants to prevent Tehran from creating nuclear weapons.
Israeli officials told reporters that Trump conveyed the proposal to Netanyahu during their phone calls over the past few weeks, stressing that a nuclear facility at Fordow could be beyond Israel’s military capabilities.
At the same time, the White House denies that the US wants to strike Iran, the journalists recalled. Tehran, on the other hand, says that the nuclear facility in Fordow has already suffered limited damage from recent Israeli attacks.
