US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said that these weapons had not previously been provided to Ukraine.

US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker announced new arms deliveries to Ukraine under the PURL program.
According to him, the weapons transfer is expected this week, La Repubblica reports . “Yes,” Whitaker replied curtly when asked whether further deliveries under the PURL program should be expected.
He added that tomorrow the US will make an important announcement about arms supplies to Ukraine.
“The US has ‘powerful’ systems that have not yet been handed over,” Whitaker hinted.
“Through PURL, Trump has enabled European NATO allies, including Canada, to purchase the world’s best American weapons and ammunition and transfer them to Ukraine, which needs them. We must ensure continuity of supply so that allies are more actively involved in procurement,” the diplomat added.
Whitaker noted that the PURL mechanism “is working stably and effectively so far.”
“Several more countries have recently announced their intention to join, following the addition of Canada, the Netherlands, and Germany, as well as a joint pledge from Denmark, Norway, and Sweden,” Whitaker said, calling on those countries that have not yet joined to do so now.
The US Ambassador to NATO expressed his belief that Ukraine should receive everything it needs to defend itself, and that the fastest and most practical way for allies to help is by investing in PURL.
“This program is vital, and allies must act quickly to increase pressure on Russia to come to the negotiating table and agree to peace,” Whitaker said.
PURL Program
The PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) mechanism is a joint US-NATO program for the accelerated delivery of weapons to Ukraine. Under this program, the Ukrainian Armed Forces compile a list of essential items and share them with their allies. The partners then finance the purchase of American weapons at the request of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The funds are transferred to a special NATO account, after which the US delivers the weapons.
